Boston Bruins Captain Zdeno Chara Retires

Zdeno Chara returned to TD Garden to announce his retirement from the NHL this month. Chara is planning on signing a one-day contract with the Boston Bruins on September 20th, officially retiring as a Bruin.

Indresano Studios had the pleasure of photographing Chara several times.

Chara scored 481 points in 1,023 games while playing for the Bruins.

Chara played 24 seasons in the National Hockey League and 14 with the Boston Bruins.

Zdeno Chara made a formal announcement on his Instagram account September 20th.

“I am honored to return to TD Garden today to sign a one-day contract with the Boston Bruins and officially finish my career with the team that has meant so much to me and my family”
-Zdeno Chara

Indresano Studios has been working with the Boston Bruins since 2013.
On the team’s 90th anniversary, we produced a video highlighting Zdeno and the rest of the Bruins.

We at Indresano Studios are huge fans of the Boston Bruins and are elated every time we get the opportunity to work with them.

Thank you, Boston Bruins, and thank you, Zdeno Chara, for 14 years as a Bruin!

BEST PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY OF 2016!

With the beginning of 2017 upon us, it’s a good time to reflect on all the highlights and video and photo accomplishments of 2016. Here are just some of the exciting and rewarding projects we were able to work on throughout the past year.

The year started out with a trip to warmer climates for the first leg of an executive video interview series for a corporate client. Our team packed up as much of the video equipment as they could and headed off to San Diego!

The rest of the interviews took place in the snowy wonderland of Massachusetts. While the weather was a bit colder, the interviews were all just as warm and friendly, and the clients loved the final videos!

Next up was the completion of an ad campaign for a master’s program at Brown University. The high end photography was complimented by some explosive videography to push the program to the next level.

The video portion was very well received, and even won the agency, NAIL Communications, a Hatch Award towards the end of the year!

While the Boston Bruins season was in full swing, we released the exciting video of Tuukka Rask we started in 2015. His killer reflexes and crazy saves continued to excite and entertain us through the 2016 season!

Near the close of the winter, we worked with SCENE magazine to capture their Spring cover of Boston Police Commissioner William Evans. Working with the commissioner’s busy schedule, Michael and the team worked quickly to make sure the location and set up was just right. We LOVE how the final image looks on the cover of the magazine.

With the spring came new projects for new clients. The Wynn Casino opening in Everett needed a photographer to capture all the details of their 3-D model, and the Indresano team were just the ones to do it!

Before the football season got into full swing, we worked with SCENE magazine again to do a 2-day cover shoot with New England Patriots Wide Receiver Danny Amendola. We started with some shots in full (and partial) uniform at Gillette Stadium

The next day, Amendola came to the studio to show off his fashionable side. While he is a great asset to the Patriot’s team, he could certainly have a back up career as a model!

Fall was quickly here and the leaves began to fall. Our friends at Liberty Mutual took this as a time to partner with Medicine Wheel on a clean up of No Man’s Land. Our video production team captured the collaboration for all to see!

When Thanksgiving started to approach, we worked with the fun team at ’47 Brand to get some holiday-worthy images of their sports team apparel to share through the rest of the year to take us into 2017! It was a lot of moving pieces to coordinate, but in the end the results were more than worth it!

A theme throughout the 2016 year for us was ICE CREAM! As a Boston Food Photographer, we wanted to share several new GIFs and videos made throughout the year showing the many ways you can enjoy a frozen treat.

With so many exciting projects all packed into 1 year, we can’t wait to see what video and photography projects 2017 will have in store for us!

A BLAST WITH TUUKKA RASK

The average speed of a hockey puck flying across the ice in a NHL game is between 80-110 mph. What does it take to stop a projectile traveling at such a velocity? The answer is MORE speed. We found out just how that lighting reflex works when famed goalie Tuukka Rask from the Boston Bruins came to the studio for a video and photo shoot.

BEST OF 2015: OUR VIDEO AND PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECTS IN REVIEW

2015 was quite a year for us here at the studio! From exciting photo and video projects to awards we were honored to win, we have a lot to be thankful for! Here are some of our favorite memories:

Early in the year, we were still working on finalizing and putting out two exciting video projects. The first was the Seapoint Estate video, where we highlighted a beautiful ocean side mansion.

Another project we finished up was a TV commercial to help promote the Pine Street Inn, a local homeless shelter in Boston. It was exciting to see our work air on Channel 5!

Even though the weather was poor, our spirits remained high!

We also finished up a video helping showcase the non-profit Medicine Wheel and their goal of installing a paved path connecting the Boston National Historical Park.

When Obama came to Boston to open the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States in honor of the late Ted Kennedy, we all enjoyed reminiscing on when Michael photographed Ted Kennedy in 1995.

In April, Michael was honored to be highlighted in Boston.com for his constant philanthropic work for the community and his help for local charities to increase their support and donations.

In May, Governor Charlie Baker and Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito came to the studio to be photographed for the cover of Scene Magazine. We were all so excited they took the time from their busy schedule to get their portraits taken!

Over the summer, we got started on some exciting video projects, starting with a video and photoshoot featuring Boston Bruin’s goal keeper Tuukka Rask.

Next, we worked on some some dramatic close-up filming and photography showcasing the beauty of the new iRobot product.

We also helped to promote one of Medicine Wheel’s other endeavors, Hand in Hand. The program helps to promote communication and understanding between police officers and young adults.

Using a dolly and a lot of patience, we worked tirelessly to capture the beauty of Circle Furniture.

By the fall, the award announcements began to come in, and we were honored with 4 Merit Award from Graphis Competitions for our food photography work with Baskin Robbins!

We also were honored with two nominations for the international Black and White Spider Awards in the categories Nude Photography and Advertising Photography

The fun continued when we filmed the Mayo Bowl hosted by New England Patriots Defensive Captain Jerod Mayo. It was a lot of work but we made some time for meeting some of the Patriots team, including Tom Brady, Danny Amendola, Chandler Jones and Julian Edelman!

HEATIN’ UP WITH THE BOSTON BRUINS ICE GIRLS

…To say that we had fun with the Boston Bruins Ice Girls while they were in the studio is an understatement – we had an absolute blast! These girls brought so much energy to the set and we loved capturing that through both photography and video.

BACK ON THE ICE

The Bruins drop the puck tonight to kick off their run for the Stanley Cup, so we wanted to share the photo shoot we did with the Ice Girls. When the NHL lockout ended, we skated into high gear on short notice to get everything ready. Fortunately, we knew the drill as we did the Bruins and Ice Girls team shoot the season before at the TD Garden. Enjoy and Let’s Go Bruins! Boston STRONG!

20TH ANNIVERSARY

It is hard to believe it has been 20 years since I opened my first studio! It feels like yesterday that I welcomed my first client at 355 Congress St., in the late spring of 1992. I have enjoyed every day and every shoot; it has never felt like work to me.

I would like to thank each and every client I have had the privilege to work with over the last 20 years.  It is largely due to their loyalty and innovative ideas that the last 20 years in business have been so rewarding.  I’m not in this alone; my staff of professionals makes it possible for me to focus on what I love most: capturing the perfect image.  It goes without saying that without the support of my family and friends, I would not have achieved this level of success.

Although many things have changed in the photography industry since I snapped my first photo with a Pentax K1000, the way I think about my clients has remained consistent. From day one, my philosophy has been to bring my clients’ vision to life within the comforts of my studio.

My first studio at 355 Congress St.

Former producer, Heather, and I brainstorm before a shoot.

My first client Computervision, Inc., sent me around the globe for 5 weeks in 1993. I traveled with two assistants to South Korea, Italy, Germany, France, Japan (pictured) and Canada photographing CEO’s and factories for companies such as Hyundai, Siemens, Audi, and Fiat, to name a few. That’s me on the far right, with assistant Jeff to the left of me.

33 A Street Before

33 A Street After

I wanted a place where I could provide a comfortable space with all of the amenities. Luckily, I found a building that was a diamond in the rough at 33 A Street right in South Boston. This has been my home away from home since 1998 and continues to be today.

The patio area at 33 A Street became an outdoor shower for models, Sylvia and Mark, during a shoot for Crabtree & Evelyn.  Assistants Aldo (far left) and Joe (right) had a fun time too!

(From left) Goji, Jeff, Mark, myself, and Al behind-the-scenes at a baseball stadium for a Papa Gino’s shoot.

Hanging out with Jay Leno after I shot his portrait in Burbank, California. I found out that our families descended from the same town: Avellino, Italy!

Below are some of my favorite portraits and personalities from over the past 20 years. It’s been quite a ride – thanks again to everyone who has made it such a memorable adventure!

And here are just some of the thousands of products I’ve had so much fun shooting over the years.

I’m very excited to see what the next 20 years hold for the future of the studio.  If they are anything like the past 20, I can’t wait to get this party started.

BEHIND THE BLACK AND GOLD PHOTO SHOOT

We have received great feedback from everyone regarding the Boston Bruins photo shoot we did in September, now we would like to share the behind-the-scenes video we made over the three days of shooting at the TD Garden.

[wpvideo PvWz6yJJ]

BOSTON BRUINS

When the email arrived in our mailbox with the words “Bruins” and “Photo Shoot,” We immediately said, “YES, we would love to shoot the Champions!”

After countless emails, checklists, and a test shoot at the Studio, we drove our cargo van into TD Garden. Carrying and setting-up the entire studio, two days of 3 am alarm clocks, lots of Dunkin’ coffee, breaking down and packing up, and finally … processing 4,983 files – we wanted to share these pictures with you.

It was a challenging, but extremely fun and exciting shoot. It could not have been possible without the entire team at Indresano Photography and the wonderful people who work for the Boston Bruins.

Keep an eye out for our exclusive behind the scenes video and photos on this blog and our Facebook page.
