LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHY & SELF DRIVING CARS: BEHIND THE SCENES

Fasten your seat belts, it’s time for an epic lifestyle photo shoot! For this lifestyle shoot, we brought and shot a luxury self-driving car in the studio.

For over 25 years, Indresano Studios has built a name for themselves creating artful, award-winning work with a passion that borders on the fanatical.

 —

This was not the first car we’ve shot in the studio so we knew exactly how to set up our Hasselblad camera to get the best angles.

It was such a treat to shoot with Lauren Fitzgerald from Maggie Inc. Lauren is naturally beautiful, but TEAM Makeup Artist Paula helped enhance her gorgeous features!

Since we were shooting in the studio, we had to create our own weather. We used this fan to help show how it would feel to ride in this luxury autonomous car with the wind in your hair.

Our digital tech knew just the right buttons to hit to create the perfect wind storm. Talk about riding in style 😉

TOOLS OF THE TRADE: MEET THE HASSELBLAD H6D-100C

The Indresano team has always prided itself on using only the latest and greatest photographic technology. To prove it, we’d like to introduce you to the Hasselblad H6D-100c.

Image of Hasselblad H6D-100C

The Hasselblad H6D represents the pinnacle of photographic quality, clarity, sharpness and depth. It comes equipped with a whopping 100-megapixel sensor.

Image of Hasselbald H6D-100C

Because of this, we get files more than twice the size of images from the industry’s leading DSLR cameras like the Canon 5Ds and Nikon D810. We are ecstatic to have this heavy hitter in our studio!

Image of Hasselblad H6D-100C

In addition to being tremendously beautiful, the H6D produces 605 MB 16-Bit files. This gives us an unprecedented amount of information to work with in post-production.

Image of Hasselblad H6D-100C

The Hasselblad’s leaf shutter system allows us to use much faster flash speeds than ANY mainstream DSLR. This helps us to freeze liquids, explosions, and anything else we can think of with perfect clarity.

On top of everything listed here, the H6D-100C is capable of capturing UHD 4K video. At long last, our team can shoot 4K video with Hasselblad’s legendary optics. The H6D produces some of the cleanest looking 4K footage we’ve ever seen.

Technical limitations have never hindered the creativity of our team. The question is, what ideas will you bring to the table so that we can help bring them to life?

WARDROBES & WINDEX: MY FIRST WEEK AS AN INTERN

“Cream or sugar?” It’s the clichéd but fail-proof question lurking in the back of my mind on Day 1 of any internship. Somehow my social awkwardness didn’t scare away the interviewers, and the much-anticipated first day leaves my mind spinning. Will it be super corporate? Will the rest of the team like me? Will I learn about the industry or practice my barista skills? “Point me to the Keurig,” I think, just to be on the safe side.

I am so grateful to say those anxieties evaporated the second I entered Michael Indresano Photography. The studio is stunning. It’s modern and sophisticated yet fun and energetic. Early 2000s R&B blasts on the radio all day. Oh, did I mention there’s a dog? Take a look at the majestic Sofia who keeps us company:

Just when I thought things couldn’t get better, Michael let us know we would be having a shoot later in the week for a company specializing in beauty products. Check out some behind the scenes moments as I took in all this incredible first week had to offer:

The Set

Rule #1: Windex is your friend. We got right to work preparing for the shoot by making sure the studio was spotless and the equipment was ready to go. Shoutout to Abby for teaching me how to test the camera and set up the lights.

The Wardrobe

Hangers galore! I was stunned to see how many clothing options arrived at the studio for the shoot.

The Crew

A shoot is nothing without a dedicated crew. Here we have our insanely talented hair stylist Paula, wardrobe specialist Coleen, and makeup artist Jennifer. It was so great working with this detail-oriented team!

The Models

Not only were they beautiful, but the models are some of the most genuinely friendly people I’ve met. Here are some shots of Lauren, Anna, and Anais as the shoot got underway.

The Favorite

Last but not least, here’s one of my favorite behind-the-scenes shots from the day. Check out the beautiful flares that the lighting cast on our bold model Anais.

As you can see, I’d say it was a pretty amazing first week all in all. Thank you so much to Michael for the incredible internship opportunity. I can’t wait to see what else upcoming weeks have in store!

IT’S NEVER TOO COLD FOR ICE CREAM

As a Boston Food Photographer studio, it’s no surprise we like ICE CREAM around here! Just take a look through our website indresano.com and you will notice we are obsessed with ice cream! Some people love cat videos, we LOVE ice cream. We photograph ice cream, we video ice cream. If the sun were a ginormous scoop of tiramisu gelato we would be a sunflower basking in its delicious ice creamy rays. And we would take the ice cream on exciting adventures too. Like this recent project where we made cool melty looks from a few of our favorite flavors.

WYNN CASINO: BIG OPPORTUNITIES IN SMALL PACKAGES

Recently the team took on an unusual challenge of photographing a model of the new Wynn Resorts to be built in Everett, MA. The crew packed up their bags and went on location to Wynn offices to shoot the 6’ x 8’, 1500lb model of the soon-to-be casino. Our intern, Sarah, wrote a blog of the experience:

Jayna, Odi, Michael and I packed up the van early Wednesday morning and hopped on the road to head to Wynn offices in Medford. When we arrived and unpacked we were in awe at both of the models that were created for the planning of the casino. Our client informed us that the model was 1500 pounds and was delivered from Las Vegas and reassembled here in their Boston office.

We were able to move the model to anywhere in the room(luckily it was on wheels!), which really helped us get our backdrop and lighting just right. It was so nerve-racking to move the giant replica! After shooting a from multiple possible angles we packed up the car and headed home after a fun, but exhausting, shoot. Check out some images below!

We were definitely excited to have an on location shoot at the Wynn Boston Harbor offices!IMG_1697

A BLAST WITH TUUKKA RASK

The average speed of a hockey puck flying across the ice in a NHL game is between 80-110 mph. What does it take to stop a projectile traveling at such a velocity? The answer is MORE speed. We found out just how that lighting reflex works when famed goalie Tuukka Rask from the Boston Bruins came to the studio for a video and photo shoot.

We had to get in close while filming the eyes that see what most people can’t.

CHILLIN’ WITH CARBONITE

If your first thought is Star Wars when you hear the word Carbonite, you are not alone. What this company offers, however, isn’t in the stars, but rather in the cloud. Founded in 2005, Carbonite is a high tech company that provides cloud backup and storage services to clients across the globe. In recent years, they have since expanded to become one of the leading online data backup providers in the world. But that has not made them take themselves too seriously. From a life size Yoda statue to silhouettes of Darth Vadar, this 50,000 square foot office screams fun!

Michael and the team photographed over a dozen top execs from Carbonite. Shooting was a breeze as we set up using our latest ultra high pixel-count camera addition to the family (more about that at a later point). Michael has also invested into using the latest technology in lighting and you can see in some of the shots below the lights are all LED – no more hot lights and sweaty sets! This was a COOL shoot in more ways than one.

360° WITH CIRCLE FURNITURE

Quality and craftsmanship are two words that are synonymous with Circle Furniture. Our team was excited for the chance to work with Sprague Nelson on several commercials for the furniture retailer. We embraced the challenge of capturing all the fine details that make the pieces unique and special in the eyes of furniture buyers. Check out the final videos below and catch them on your local television channels!

TAKING THE NEXT STEP WITH NxSTAGE

Our recent project with NxStage for a home dialysis machine was a rewarding experience! We had a great opportunity to be part of a creative process that will benefit those that require kidney care. On casting day, over 60 people came in to audition for a few different roles. We hit the ground running on the shoot day by creating a set that really told the story and communicated the product message. The images represent the freedom of using home dialysis. Check out the tear sheets from the shoot below!
