Non-Profit Videos in Boston (Part 2)

Indresano Studios loves to show the work that non-profits do through a creative lens by providing high-quality videos that highlight their outstanding employees, as well as people who’s lives they change for the better.

The Importance of Non-Profit Videos

Non-profits often struggle with fundraising – that’s where we come in. Videos are so versatile and can have a long shelf-life, even after being launched at an event. They can be front and center on your website’s about page, or spliced up into clips that can be used in email blasts or throughout social media!

Creating a video is a huge step in showing people exactly what a difference their donations make to your cause. It’s not often a donor is able to get an insider look into everything your organization offers. Showing your organization’s work in a creative manner is a great way to gain familiarity.

We have a new section of our website to highlight some work we have done with non-profits based in Boston. This blog is a part 2 – check out part 1 here. Now, let’s recap some of the non-profit videos we have made for SPOKE!

About SPOKE

SPOKE (formerly Medicine Wheel Productions) is a non-profit organization founded by Michael Dowling. Their mission is to transform Greater Boston communities from the inside out by inviting all members to participate in the healing and transcendent power of public art.

They are forging a Common Path—one of inclusion and civic engagement—using art as a threshold to help individuals gain awareness of self, community, and the human condition. These next five videos show how they achieve this.

SPOKE At The Threshold Video

This video tells a story at the intersection of art, human interconnectivity, and emotional healing. The goal of the video was to showcase the transformation happening within our client’s organization and to also serve as a tribute piece of the owner’s lifelong work.

SPOKE – Hand-in-Hand Program

Hand-in-Hand, a program created by SPOKE, is an opportunity for at-risk youth and Boston Police officers to meet, bond, and develop a sense of compassion and understanding by spending a day working on art projects together. Hand-in-Hand gives them a space to see one another as human beings and peers, rather than as adversaries on the streets.

Hand-in-Hand Videos

We had the pleasure of hosting the 2019 series of Hand-in-Hand events here at Indresano Studios. In addition to hosting the event, we also produced a promotional video to help SPOKE spread their message of inclusion. Former Boston Police Commissioner William B. Evans made a special appearance in this short documentary video addressing the need to raise our own awareness and take an active role in making a difference.

No Man’s Land Video

This video is one we will forever hold dear to our hearts. Thank you to Michael Dowling of SPOKE for inspiring us to create this magnificent video.

We at Indresano Studios have a vast amount of experience in working with non-profits in the Boston area. A video is an amazing way to show people what a difference your non-profit makes in the community.

We are a full service video production studio that handles all aspects of a shoot. Everything from vision & conceptualization to editing & color grading is done in-house at Indresano Studios. This includes story boarding, casting, production, filming, editing, color grading to final deliverables – you name it, we do it.

MICHAEL INDRESANO NAMED MEDICINE MAN OF THE YEAR 2019

Indresano Studios is proud to announce that Medicine Wheel has named Michael Indresano as the 2019 Medicine Man of the Year. This prestigious award is meant to recognize a member of the community who has donated more than their fair share of time or resources to Medicine Wheel and aided in Medicine Wheel’s mission of promoting inclusion across all walks of life.

Michael served on the board of Medicine Wheel for 6 years, eventually being voted in as the chairman of the board.

Michael will be presented with the award at the 2019 “Turning The Wheel” event in Boston. For more information about the event or to purchase tickets, please visit www.mwponline.org.

MEDICINE WHEEL – HAND IN HAND 2019 WITH BOSTON POLICE COMMISSIONER WILLIAM GROSS

The Indresano Studios team has partnered up with Medicine Wheel Productions to host Medicine Wheel’s “Hand in Hand” event, which aims to bridge the culture gap between some of Boston’s at-risk youth and the Boston Police Department. It is a full day of bonding activities, eventually culminating in a photoshoot at Indresano Studios!

In addition to hosting the photo shoot, the Indresano team is producing a short video for Medicine Wheel’s promotional purposes.

Hand In Hand brings together Boston Police officers and young adults, most of whom have had negative experiences with police in the past, to try to understand and accept their differences by embracing their similarities; namely their humanity, and common experience.

Medicine Wheel Hand in Hand – Hand Casting

Before the workshop began, our team interviewed a few of the young adults, as well as Medicine Wheel Director Michael Dowling and Director of Public Art and Advocacy Richard Dinsmore to learn a little more about what this program is and how it has helped the two communities become closer together.

Each young adult is paired with an officer, then the workshop begins with a meditation period. Following this, each participant writes an “I Am” poem about identity.

Partners then create a mold of their clasped hands, which is later turned into a bronzed cast. These hand-in-hand statues are then displayed at Medicine Wheel, and at any events that Medicine Wheel hosts.

After a short dinner, participants then head to Indresano Studios to get their portraits taken.

TSC-MWP-TTW-2016-E-INVITE-v2B_Page_1

Community involvement and service has always been important to Indresano Studio, and we have been proud to work with Medicine Wheel. Founded by Michael Dowling, Medicine Wheel is currently celebrating it’s 25th year of working to move beyond diversity to inclusion and build our community from the inside out, using art as the threshold.

The organization has:

  • Worked together with congregations to help them re-sanctify their spaces and continued to work with them to maintain them for 25 years.
  • Built communities for through the arts and created Youth Programs which has served over 6,000 people over 20 years.
  • Ran the Hope and Recovery Program for 15 years, helping 2,500 youth.
  • Worked for 15 years with the Art and Peace Building.
  • Created the “Dance the Dream”, a collection of 5,000 hand prints along Columbia Road to promote the goals of art as a threshold
  • Built a 5 year partnership with HPHC, using art to honor the legacy of Dr. King
  • Teamed up with Beacon Communities and Boston Public Housing to create more affordable spaces for residents
  • Rehabilitated No Man’s Land and turned it from a run down strip of land to an outdoor sanctuary, filled with events for all ages of the community.

BEST OF 2015: OUR VIDEO AND PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECTS IN REVIEW

2015 was quite a year for us here at the studio! From exciting photo and video projects to awards we were honored to win, we have a lot to be thankful for! Here are some of our favorite memories:

Early in the year, we were still working on finalizing and putting out two exciting video projects. The first was the Seapoint Estate video, where we highlighted a beautiful ocean side mansion.

Another project we finished up was a TV commercial to help promote the Pine Street Inn, a local homeless shelter in Boston. It was exciting to see our work air on Channel 5!

Even though the weather was poor, our spirits remained high!

We also finished up a video helping showcase the non-profit Medicine Wheel and their goal of installing a paved path connecting the Boston National Historical Park.

When Obama came to Boston to open the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States in honor of the late Ted Kennedy, we all enjoyed reminiscing on when Michael photographed Ted Kennedy in 1995.

In April, Michael was honored to be highlighted in Boston.com for his constant philanthropic work for the community and his help for local charities to increase their support and donations.

In May, Governor Charlie Baker and Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito came to the studio to be photographed for the cover of Scene Magazine. We were all so excited they took the time from their busy schedule to get their portraits taken!

Over the summer, we got started on some exciting video projects, starting with a video and photoshoot featuring Boston Bruin’s goal keeper Tuukka Rask.

Next, we worked on some some dramatic close-up filming and photography showcasing the beauty of the new iRobot product.

We also helped to promote one of Medicine Wheel’s other endeavors, Hand in Hand. The program helps to promote communication and understanding between police officers and young adults.

Using a dolly and a lot of patience, we worked tirelessly to capture the beauty of Circle Furniture.

By the fall, the award announcements began to come in, and we were honored with 4 Merit Award from Graphis Competitions for our food photography work with Baskin Robbins!

The fun continued when we filmed the Mayo Bowl hosted by New England Patriots Defensive Captain Jerod Mayo. It was a lot of work but we made some time for meeting some of the Patriots team, including Tom Brady, Danny Amendola, Chandler Jones and Julian Edelman!
