It takes 90% less energy to recycle an aluminum can than to manufacture a new one. That same amount of energy is enough to power a television for 3 hours. Also, only 27% of newspapers in the US are recycled. We would save 1 quarter of a billion trees a year if we recycled all newspapers. And, 14,000,000,000 pounds of garbage is tossed into the ocean a year, killing at least 1 million creatures.

This year, more than 192 countries, totaling over 1 billion people, came together to celebrate Earth Day to try and change these statistics.

Earth Day Social Media Post

The inspiration for our Earth Day shoot came from the idea that one small action (or drop) can create a ripple effect.

The Rig

Using magic arms, we were able to get the baster we used to create the drops, in perfect position for continuous drops, giving us lots of options to work with.

Using magic arms, we were able to get the baster we used to create the drops, in perfect position for continuous drops, giving us lots of options to work with, and eventually giving us the perfect shot for our Earth Day post.

Using our new Profoto lights with our Laser System, we were able to sync our lights to our new Hasselblad H6d-100c camera to capture the water drop right after it hit the surface of the water, freezing the splash and capturing the drop in mid air.

The water drop interrupts the laser beam firing  the strobe lights and camera simultaneously, getting the perfect shot every time.

A drop just before it hits the laser. The Profoto D2's capture the splash with no motion blur, freezing the drop in mid-air. The drop suspended in air reflects the map behind it.

We placed a world map behind the set to create a reflection resembling a globe in the drop in order to capture as much in camera as possible.

After getting the perfect splash image, the team needed a solution for a larger drop. Leave it to Michael to have exactly what was needed.

To get a perfect shot of the globe like reflection, the team used a custom made acrylic drop.

Using a glass drop composited into the final shot, we get the perfect reflection of the world map behind it. The New Profoto D2's light up the set.

The Indresano team has always prided itself on using only the latest and greatest photographic technology. To prove it, we’d like to introduce you to the Hasselblad H6D-100c.

Image of Hasselblad H6D-100C

The Hasselblad H6D represents the pinnacle of photographic quality, clarity, sharpness and depth. It comes equipped with a whopping 100-megapixel sensor.

Image of Hasselbald H6D-100C

Because of this, we get files more than twice the size of images from the industry’s leading DSLR cameras like the Canon 5Ds and Nikon D810. We are ecstatic to have this heavy hitter in our studio!

Image of Hasselblad H6D-100C

In addition to being tremendously beautiful, the H6D produces 605 MB 16-Bit files. This gives us an unprecedented amount of information to work with in post-production.

The Hasselblad’s leaf shutter system allows us to use much faster flash speeds than ANY¬†mainstream DSLR. This helps us to¬†freeze liquids, explosions, and anything else we can think of with perfect clarity.

On top of everything listed here, the H6D-100C is capable of capturing UHD 4K video. At long last, our team¬†can shoot 4K video with Hasselblad’s legendary optics. The H6D produces some of the cleanest looking 4K footage we’ve ever seen.

Technical limitations have never hindered the creativity of our team. The question is, what ideas will you bring to the table so that we can help bring them to life?

View Our Work

The cold and snow were too slow to leave Boston, and Indresano team was impatient for warmer weather! So they packed up their gear and went down to sunny San Diego for a video shoot.

Once the crew scouted out the best location, they got right down to business getting all the gear set and ready!

Our Production Coordinator Shannon filled in as the interviewee in order to adjust lighting and sound just right for the videos. But that didn’t stop her from working!

Notice anything about the window frames? Here’s a hint- it involved a lot of taping! We covered the black frames in white in order to create the perfect background for the shot

With everything all ready to go, our professional interviewer got everything underway.

It takes a great crew to film a strong interview!

After two days of prep and filming, our team had just enough time left in San Diego to visit the seals in La Jolla.

¬†Jayna and Shannon even managed to snag a ‘seal’fie with one of them!

Walking into the gym, we were greeted with huge, muscular men and women who helped us lift up our heavy video equipment onto their loading dock and into the gym. They made it look so easy! Tossing our bags and picking up our heavy cases as if they were as light as a feather.

Sony F5 Video Camera

After meeting Jeff, we set up to do some heavy lifting. We get tired from lifting our Sony F5 camera all day which weighs about 12 pounds, so when Jeff showed us his signature move: lifting a dumbbell with metal chains attached to it, he made us look like wimps!

Man Lifting Weights

Nike Fog Effect

Our goal for the video was to create a cool effect. With the right tools and techniques, we were able to give our video the misty, dark, and grungy look we were hoping for.

Nike Workout

After an intense day of working out, Jeff was getting so pumped and heated from all the heavy lifting that the fire alarms went off! (We actually triggered them off, whoops!) We had a brief chat with the fire marshal, and then got right back to work.

Let’s just say if we saw Jeff or any of the other members of the the gym walking down the street, we’d think twice before messing with them. Those guys are jacked!

When the cold weather hit, it meant one thing at the studio- Indresano Angel’s time! We got a date on the calendar, found our inspiration images and we were ready to go!

Maryelle Artistry came to help get the production team all ‘glammed’ up for the shoot. It’s not everyday you get to get the full Kardashian treatment!

A couple of final touches from Maryelle on set as the lighting gets set.

Executive Producer Millie stands in to help get all the final touches ready, and to show off her fabulous outfit!

Emma, Millie, and Shannon really know how to work their angels!

A quick shot behind the set shows all the work that goes into getting the lighting and set just right!

Charlie’s Angels had their mysterious leader, but we think ours is much cuter. ūüôā

One last shot of Mommy and baby Michael, because we couldn’t pick just one!

With the beginning of 2017 upon us, it’s a good time to reflect on all the highlights and video and photo accomplishments of 2016. Here are just some of the exciting and rewarding projects we were able to work on throughout the past year.

The year started out with a trip to warmer climates for the first leg of an executive video interview series for a corporate client. Our team packed up as much of the video equipment as they could and headed off to San Diego!

The rest of the interviews took place in the snowy wonderland of Massachusetts. While the weather was a bit colder, the interviews were all just as warm and friendly, and the clients loved the final videos!

Next up was the completion of an ad campaign for a master’s program at Brown University. The high end photography was complimented by some explosive videography to push the program to the next level.

The video portion was very well received, and even won the agency, NAIL Communications, a Hatch Award towards the end of the year!

While the Boston Bruins season was in full swing, we released the exciting video of Tuukka Rask we started in 2015. His killer reflexes and crazy saves continued to excite and entertain us through the 2016 season!

Near the close of the winter, we worked with SCENE magazine to capture their Spring cover of Boston Police Commissioner William Evans. Working with the commissioner’s busy schedule, Michael and the team worked quickly to make sure the location and set up was just right. We LOVE how the final image looks on the cover of the magazine.

With the spring came new projects for new clients. The Wynn Casino opening in Everett needed a photographer to capture all the details of their 3-D model, and the Indresano team were just the ones to do it!

Before the football season got into full swing, we worked with SCENE magazine again to do a 2-day cover shoot with New England Patriots Wide Receiver Danny Amendola. We started with some shots in full (and partial) uniform at Gillette Stadium

The next day, Amendola came to the studio to show off his fashionable side. While he is a great asset to the Patriot’s team, he could certainly have a back up career as a model!

Fall was quickly here and the leaves began to fall. Our friends at Liberty Mutual took this as a time to partner with Medicine Wheel on a clean up of No Man’s Land. Our video production team captured the collaboration for all to see!

When Thanksgiving started to approach, we worked with the fun team at ’47 Brand to get some holiday-worthy images of their sports team apparel to share through the rest of the year to take us into 2017! It was a lot of moving pieces to coordinate, but in the end the results were more than worth it!

A theme throughout the 2016 year for us was ICE CREAM! As a Boston Food Photographer, we wanted to share several new GIFs and videos made throughout the year showing the many ways you can enjoy a frozen treat.

With so many exciting projects all packed into 1 year, we can’t wait to see what video and photography projects 2017 will have in store for us!

Over the course 3 rainy days, Liberty Mutual had over 150 employees volunteer to clean up a public park called No Man’s Land in South Boston. ¬†Michael Indresano and the team are doing their part in giving back to the community. Joining hands with Liberty Mutual on behalf of Medicine Wheel on this project is not only a way to show our appreciation but also to give thanks to the community to which we belong. See video below of all the¬†hard work and inspiring moments from the¬†No Man’s Land cleanup:

Liberty Mutual is a huge contributor to public charity on a global scale.

Anna White, Director of Community  Initiatives at Medicine Wheel, shows volunteers the lay of the land.

Richie Dinsmore, Director of Advocacy and Public Art at Medicine Wheel, gives directions as workers clean up.

Joseph DiMaio from Liberty Mutual led the effort as project manager also gets hands-on and puts in the extra effort.

3 days of rain makes this project that much more rewarding.

Who wouldn’t want to grab a Baskin-Robbins Polar Pizza slice after watching this!? Enjoy!

Check out the final video above!

Some of the behind the scene shots of our Baskin Robbins Polar Pizza. Took Michael and the team 3 days to shoot the sequences needed to make the cut. Each flavor was shot separately and edited in post to give that final polished look. Momentum, music, rhythm, appetite appeal, and the flow of the video are qualities that we focused on highlighting. In total there are 49 actual shots to create this 30 second video, however we took 2-3 takes per shot.

Something that looks simple in a video may be quite complex to shoot. Applying math is an indispensable way of accomplishing such a task. Image above shows how we divided up each slice and marked them numerically for an action sequence. In the final video clip, you can see the results of this kind of math in action.

At the end of the day, it is about getting the shot and getting it right. Executing creative ideas take a lot of “thinking outside the box”. This is just a casual example of the things we use to get the shots we want.

Very cool slow motion behind the scenes video of Jayna dropping the candy pieces on top of the Polar Pizza (below)! See the clip in the final Polar Pizza video at 0.07 seconds in (above).

High end video equipment and a focused group of creative people is what Michael Indresano Photography brought to this multi-day shoot. We worked with corporate executives on a series of interviews. Multiple cameras means multiple perspectives but we never lost sight of the project goal Рto make an awesome video.

The famed Sony F55, Sony F5 and their little cousin the Sony FS7 all in attendance at the shoot!

Managing the complexity of a video set means getting everything spot on.

We also have to get the lighting just right. With a combination of natural light from the full windows in the hallways and some small but powerful LED panels, we were able to achieve it!

Walking by outside, someone would certainly be curious about what was happening!

Smile for the camera! Using a dolly is always a great way to get some nice, dynamic shots!

After everything was set up, we had our team member sit in the interviewee chair so we could make our final tweaks and make sure everything was perfect.

Here is a glimpse into the real behind the scenes of a shoot. All the equipment and manpower involved into making a video is quite remarkable. Next time you see a commercial or video, think about all the work and people that come together to create the thing you are watching.
